The Token Summer Post

After getting a D in my English Lang & Lit AS, i feel like I'm in desperate need to get motivated (and yes, I am retaking the exam).

I finished reading 'I Am Legend' by Richard Matheson early on in the holidays. I thought it was very engaging in the way the narrative built up to the defining moment when the main character, Robert Neville, understands that he is seen as a figure of evil to the dwellers of the night, as Vampires were to humans before the outbreak.

I'm looking for another Pandemic book to read but until then I'm reading 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'

  1. Sadly, that "defining moment" you mentioned has eluded the makers of all three feature-film adaptations of the novel, which in the case of the recent Will Smith version made nonsense of the title. The others were THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, which starred Vincent Price and was the most faithful despite its low budget, and THE OMEGA MAN, starring Charlton Heston. George A. Romero has also acknowledged that the novel inspired NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. For further information on all three versions, see my book RICHARD MATHESON ON SCREEN, tentatively due out in early October.
